Currently I do 

mkdir -p "$HOME/.local/share/dolphin/view_properties/global"
setfattr -n 'user.kde.fm.viewproperties#1' -v '[Dolphin]\012ViewMode=1\012'
.local/share/dolphin/view_properties/global

to NOT upset the well tested code in KDE/KIO/Dolphin and find another 40000
temporary files from Dolphin in /tmp after 10 minutes of use. This is NOT a
workaround for this Bug as it does NOT address the root problem at all. It just
makes the new (intentional?) behavior less annoying for setups like mine.
Leaving it here for other immutability fans.
