That's conjecture. I didn't know of the file extension until I saw some
Terraria files with it, and I certainly don't utilise it as frequently as you
describe. If that applies solely to you, just say so – it doesn't make it a
less important use case.

Yes – they're internal files, although since they're backups, it's not
unexpected that a user would want to interact with them. They would likely have
hidden files visible in this situation.
