Madness... that really should have been "does NOT silently follow symlinks".
Some typos are worse than others :-/

First thing in that case is to work out how Dolphin is doing the searching - Is
it checking the Baloo index or not? Then check whether Baloo has indexed your
new partitions/folders.
When you get the search box that has an "Any Type", "Any Date", "Any Rating"
and "Add Tags" underneath it, Dolphin thinks that Baloo has the answers. You'll
get the box with "Filename", "Content", "From Here", "Your Files" in either
case...
If you are doing a Baloo search, you can try from the command line, try a:
$ baloosearch one-of-your-files.txt
Maybe that will be baloosearch6, it depends on your distro. You can also try a:
$ balooshow -x one-of-your-files.txt
which lists everything (well, a lot of info) about the file - if Baloo knows
about it.
