Specific folders don't show the modified folder icon when added to the places
panel
SUMMARY
When you drag and drop certain folders to the places panel (specifically:
Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Public, Templates) it does not
appear with the correct custom folder icon.
You need to right-click on these specific folders in the places panel and
select Edit > Choose an icon > then select the icon you want. Only then will it
change.
This behaviour is different from adding any other folder to the places panel
which will immediately reflect the modified folder icon.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set a custom folder icon for any of the following folders located in your
home folder: Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Public or
Templates (or any external USB drives/hard drives)
2. Drag (or right click > add to places) any of the above mentioned folders
into the places panel on the left
OBSERVED RESULT
The default folder icon for these folders is displayed in the places panel
EXPECTED RESULT
The modified folder icons for these folders should be displayed in the places
panel
