A quick action icon bar on top, such as for the context menu in Thunderbird,
could also help to shrink the context menu and reduce its amount of text to
read.

Of course this requires the icons and actions to be very familiar and clear to
the user.
On mouse hover a hint would appear to explain the action and the associated
shortcut.
