.config/baloofilerc: Permission denied
pgrep -fla baloo: Nothing comes up
baloosearch6 filename (I used the name of one of my files): "Elapsed: 0.120184
msecs"

It bears mentioning I uninstalled Baloo and reinstalled to no avail. For the
time being, I'm stuck with using Kfind which would be fine if I could use as
the default. Apparently Baloo has been a problem child for years now, even
though I haven't experienced many issues myself until now

Thanks for the additional details. Can I ask you to run the following commands,
and paste the output in a reply?

.config/baloofilerc
pgrep -fla baloo

Next, try searching for a file you know exists with this command (substitute
the filename)

baloosearch6 filename

I'm trying to narrow down which part of the system is causing search to fail.

Depending on the cause, this may be fixed by recent work that will ship with
Dolphin 25.08, which fixes a number of bugs.
