I have added an action "Focus Places Panel" with the default shortcut Ctrl+P in
https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/-/commit/f220e3b0783a24a6c7195f170297cf4b12a29d85.
Pressing the shortcut again while the Places panel has focus moves the focus
back to the main view area. This will be available in Dolphin 24.12.0.

In the same commit linked above I have also made it so toggling the places
panel visible moves the keyboard focus to it.
