I've gone back to a couple of clean installs of Neon Testing:
neon-testing-20240929-1300.iso and neon-testing-20241029-0033.iso

I do not see the behaviour if I have indexed the folder with Baloo (and Dolphin
is querying the Baloo index). If I disable Baloo and purge the index, I do see
the described behaviour.

It's admittedly unsettling that I cannot reproduce the issue reliably :-/
