I re-tested and I see what you mean. The current behavior you're seeing is by
design, I think.

There's another bug related to this behavior that's been reported in #442482
"Dolphin location bar doesn't take folder names with capital letters if they
also exist with small letters"

The original bug, as described, looks to be fixed.

To clarify:

Sorting mode is set to Alphabetical, case sensitive

When I activate the location bar and type "a", I also see directories starting
with A, as you do
When I activate the location bar, type "a" and press "Enter", Dolphin navigates
to the a directory (desired behavior confirmed)
I am *not* able to type an upper case A in the location bar, it is entered as
lower case a. 

If you agree that the bug you currently see is the same as

and it will auto close on its own. If You disagree, please let us know.
