Bug ID: 497290
Summary: When hovering the mouse over a file, a tooltip window
will show up for a split second with a "Dolphin"
window frame and in the wrong location
Classification: Applications
Product: dolphin
Version: 24.08.3
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general

Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
When I hover the mouse over files, sometimes a tooltip window will show up for
a split second but with a "Dolphin" window frame and in the wrong location. I
haven't managed to screenshot it since it's so quick, and sadly I can't
currently do a screen recording due to some unrelated bug. The tooltip seems to
contain the file name inside the window's inner area, and the window is thin
and wide, just enough to fit the tooltip, and has a default styling decorated
titlebar that says "Dolphin". It shows up for just a few frames or such, before
it disappears again.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Hover over a few files with the mouse cursor.
2. Sometimes, the window in question pops up in the center of the screen, on
top of the regular Dolphin file manager window.
OBSERVED RESULT
Weird broken window that seems to be a tooltip gone wrong shows up for a split
second.
EXPECTED RESULT
No tooltip gone wrong shows up.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)
Linux/KDE Plasma: postmarketOS Edge based on Alpine, kernel 6.12.3
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm using a Plasma 6 Wayland session. The GPU is an AMD APU, relatively recent.
The "lsmod" output suggests it's using the "amdgpu" driver.
