Bug ID: 484948
Summary: Creating a new folder and then trying moving a file
creates a bounding box instead
Classification: Applications
Product: dolphin
Version: 24.02.1
Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: panels: folders
Assignee: dolphin-bugs-null at kde.org
Reporter: razor128 at gmail.com
CC: kfm-devel at kde.org
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
After creating a folder and then trying to move a file/folder to that folder
using the mouse, a drag selection box is shown instead.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a Dolphin File Manager
2. Navigate to a folder which has folders and files
3. Right click in a blank space and hover over the item "create new" until the
sub menu appears
4. Select the "Folder..." option
5. Enter a folder name or accept the default
6. Select the "ok" button
7. Hold the left mouse button on a file or folder and attempt to drag it into
the newly created folder
OBSERVED RESULT
A drag selection box is created with the original right click point as the
origin.
EXPECTED RESULT
Clicking and dragging a file works as expected and no drag selection box is
displayed after a folder is created
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Opensuse Tumbleweed 20240329
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.3
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This bug occurs regardless of the amount of files/folders in the directory,
split panels are active or not, and on which file is chosen. I have tried to
drag text files, videos, libreoffice documents, etc and all display the same
behaviour. The first held left click on a file or folder after the new file
dialog disappears will display a drag selection box.
