Can reproduce, and not only when the destination is Folder View. It reproduces
in Dolphin too. But when linking from Folder View to Dolphin, the icon appears
to be copied successfully. So it seems like Dolphin is as fault here when it's
the originator of the link operation. Moving to Dolphin.
