This is now working for me with Kate; not sure what changed.
However, neither Sublime nor LibreOffice Write work, they still show I/O errors
on saving the file.

This is no longer a critical bug for me; as such no further debugging /
followup will be provided.
Feel free to reproduce or close as needed.
