Unfortunately on single screen setup (another system) things do not change.
About the other thing i reported, i think they are related in the way that
"dolphin is unable to correctly resize internal widgets anymore (used to work
in the past)", and i think the problem in restoring the window size (and
shrinking the places panel) depends on that.
