            Bug ID: 431536
Summary: Dolphim crashed while I was viewing directory
structure on a USB flash drive.
           Product: dolphin
           Version: 20.08.3
          Platform: Compiled Sources
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Keywords: drkonqi
          Severity: crash
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: dolphin-bugs-null at kde.org
          Reporter: davidbryant at gvtc.com
                CC: kfm-devel at kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: dolphin (20.08.3)
 (Compiled from sources)
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.77.0
Operating System: Linux 5.4.80-gentoo-x86_64 x86_64
Windowing system: X11
Distribution: Gentoo/Linux

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed: I do daily backups of my
important data files using rsync. Yesterday I did a large amount of archiving
email from the year 2020 (I keep about 3 GiB of emsil archives, in total).
After running the rsync script, I started Dolphin to look at the backed up copy
of the email archive, which had been recetnly reorganized. It worked fine at
first -- I drilled all the way down (tree view) through 4 levels of directories
to an actual list of files. The crash occuirred when I clicked the down arrow
to collapse the file list. No other application programs were running except
yakuake and the usual cadre of kde framework stuff.
I started dolphin again, repeated my previous sequence of actions, and boom! It
died the same way. The only difference I can see is that the "KDE Crash
Handler" was running the second time it crashed.
I should mention that i re-compiled a lot of kde-framework packages just two
days ago, on 11 January. Big package upgrade at Gentoo (I try to run emerge
--sync once a day). 60 packages were affected. Upgraded from 5.74 to 5.77. It
took 7.5 hours to compile those 60 packages (I maintain a complete set of
"portage" log files for all 1288 packages installed on my system). The day
before (10 January) I installed qt5.15.2 and a few additional packages
(firefox, libre-office) dependent on qt. 4.5 hours for that one, My poor CPUs
are getting tired. :-)

The crash can be reproduced every time.
