Thank you. 
Just quickly scanning through my list of installed applications, Thunderbird,
Telegram and Chromium have the same problem. They all have an option to set a
standard folder path for downloads/received files. The file picker dialog will
open, showing only folders and no files. It is possible to open folders, but
not to select them. So one is always stuck with the preset folder.
