SUMMARY

I guess it is Dolphin which manages my Desktop? Could be a wrong guess though
...

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. add something to the Desktop (e.g. a file)
2. newly added file does not show up
3. press F5 - and the file is shown

OBSERVED RESULT

newly added file cannot be seen; I have to press F5 to make it appear

EXPECTED RESULT

newly added file can be seen without pressing F5

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma: Manjaro up to date
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches
524288

I believe it could have something to do with inotify - but the number I set for
the watches seems to be high enough.
