I'm not sure what is the problem here honestly.
You will realize that the disk is not available anymore the next time you try
to read from or write to it, no?

That's standard behavior in other filemanagers. Windows even close the whole
file explorer window IIRC.

Kind of, yes :) Why not add this frequently accessed path to a place/bookmark?
