Sebastian, once you've managed to build kio-extras with the patch I've attached
please follow this:

https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/Debugging_IOSlaves/Debugging_kio_smb#Logging

to get a debug log of dolphin when you navigate to that pdf.
Should you fail to build kio-extras do tell us anyway.
