It's a really basic setup: The latest Kubuntu 20.04 (64-bit), and the distro's
official Thunderbird 68.10.0, nothing weird at all.  

I spent at least a year using KDE-Neon (based on 18.04) before Kubuntu 20.04
was released, and had the same problem there.  At least for me, it's never
worked in Plasma--but those have all been Ubuntu-based.
