Could you re-run this scenario, this time in a terminal launching "sudo gdb
-pid `pidof file.so`" during while the file deletion is stuck/delayed and
entering the same "thread apply all bt" command.

Using hotspot https://github.com/KDAB/hotspot would be a good option. Using it
to attach to process dolphin and/or file.so processes should help spot the
issue if that is not glaring.
