    By the way, the lack of thread safety is not a problem even if KUniqueApplication is used. Even though there are multiple windows in a process then, all GUI-related stuff (in particular, the views which use the new code) will still run in the same thread.
    
    This means that there should never be a reason to use the new code from different threads.
