Most people are interested in the designmode for WYSIWYG editing in web
CMS systems etc. To try and answer your question though and AFAIK, moz
never supported contentEditable; however, someone (i think Xopus)
implemented it as an XBL component somewhere mid 2002. The XBL component
can be attachet to a webpage much like CSS behaviours (XBL is the
grandchild of the original XBL W3C note) so the user does not have to
install anything.
