Something that could help in that respect, would be to have the Home button  
be a dropdown button (ala back button) for choosing profiles

- One click goes to home as defined in current profile.
- Sustained click drops down a list of available profiles, with current 
profile checked or highlighted in some way.

the idea behind the "Home" button being that of a starting point, when I 
desire to manually 'switch' to a given arbitrary mode, I'm naturally enclined 
to look there.
