howto alias a mimetype

Hi,

Considering patch from Yan Morin on
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54099 which is about mimetype
application/java not found.
What alternatives do I have for this, does adding to
java/kjavaappletviewer.desktop extra mimes work, like
MimeType=application/x-java-applet;application/java;application/x-java
when the second has no .desktop files?
Or will the second match the third one?

Obviously the patch will work as will adding a desktop file for it.

Yes or no would be sufficient :-) and only if you know it, trial and
error can I do myself but I wouldn't trust it then.
