I actually dislike autoselect quite a lot because it always autoselects an 
arbitrary item in completion lists when the mouse cursor is hovering above 
it, thus replacing whatever I'm currently typing.

It also tends to destroy carefully crafted selections of non-adjacent files if 
you don't pay attention.

So this is primarily a feature that is nice for a noob, but horrible for a 
power-user who already knows the keys how to get work done.
