building/creating a stripped down version of konqueror

hi..

i'm researching open source browsers. i'd like to know if there's someone i
can talk with, or somewhere that i could be pointed to to get a feel for
what it would take to create a stripped down version of the konqueror
browser.

basically, i'm looking to create a browser that i can run from the command
line, and that will effectively return the site/page that i feed it. i'm
looking for more than the curl/wget/libwww functionality and tend to believe
that what i need is already implemented in most of the open source browsers.

but before i go too far, i'd like to get a feel for what would be required
to build/create the app that i need. i'm assuming that it's relatively
possible to build a standalone browser with a relatively small footprint...
