WARNING: KDE detected X Error

I get this error message output to the console when I start up my app which
embeds a KHtmlPart browser:

WARNING: KDE detected X Error: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) \x08
  Major opcode:  *

Everything seems to work, but it looks rather ugly and I would like to get
rid of it (or preferably, the cause).

Surfing the web and mail archives I have found lots of references to this
error, but no fixes.

I am using SuSe 9.0 with KDE 3 (not sure exactly which version).
