Dear all,
I'm the W3C Privacy Activity Lead responsible for the P3P Project[1] in
W3C. P3P was issued as a W3C Recommendation on 16 April 2002[2]. There
are implementations of basic support in IE 6 and Mozilla. Another
interesting implementation was done by the Joint Research Center of the
European Commission[3]
The Chair of our WG Lorrie Cranor used to work for AT&T research. AT&T
research developed a P3P Plugin for IE6 called Privacy Bird[4]. This was
released as open source recently[5]. It is a much more complete solution
as the ones implemented for IE or Mozilla. All to code is done in C++.
I know that KDE 3.2 is coming up and I already await patiently the
support for SVG. Now my question is, whether it would be worthwhile
considering some implementation of P3P into konqueror using the code
from Privacy Bird. Naturally, you can expect any help from me for any
questions related to P3P (except coding, IAAL :)
So I look for somebody knowing the code of KHTML sufficiently well to
help with the integration (and perhaps enhancements) of Privacy Bird
code.
Currently, we are developing P3P 1.1 with a lot of improvements[6] and
your feedback to this is also welcome.
