mmh, those were broken long before inlines.diff though...
See attached test-case. It used to render as:

Meanwhile, I made a more elaborated patch that ought to take care of most 
issues (final rendering: 
http://www.phoenix-library.org/germain/shots/pseudo_elements.png)

it also fixes #73978 aswell as "content:'s content" updating, and quite some 
regression tests.
Do you think it's OK?
