Inappropriate change to selection behaviour.

requires the following behaviour:
SC: All selections are unmarked. The caret is placed onto the click position 
if applicable. 
SC + drag: Select from the pointer, extending selection by letters.
Shift + SC: Extend the end of the existing selection up to the pointer 
position

That no longer works, likely because of the change reported here:

Now, single click causes a selection start, and subsequent single clicks cause 
selection extension. SC+drag no longer does anything.

Can this change please be re-evaluated ASAP.
