A first comment on this one (...fixbadsort.patch), it is a very good catch, 
but m_bDirPropertiesChanged should be initialized with true (instead of false 
in the patch), otherwise the settings won't be loaded on start up 
(background, icon size, previews).
BTW, do you have a CVS account?
