konqueror (khtml) jumbling-up images

I can view the image fine using "eog" or "kpaint". Konqueror shows random
garbage and gimp gives me this error "Image resolution is out of bounds,
using the default resolution instead." and does not show the image.

This is a Slackware Linux 9 box with KDE 3.1.0
