This behavior will be changed shortly.  There will be an option to pick a 
default search engine where you can select "None", the default. BTW, this 
feature was configurable but was removed recently when the now defunct 
RealNames feature was removed.  

BTW this feature is part of KURIFilter and there is currently no way for an 
app like konqueror to distinguish which filter plugin successfully filtered 
the URL.
