Sort-by Date?

I have no idea why this isnt implimented, or at least in the FAQ.
Googling for messages on the subject revealed nothing- does nobody else
notice that "Sort by->Date" is missing?
I know there's probably some reason that it hasnt been implimented yet,
I'd just really like to know what that reason is. [I assume it's a very
obvious one since I couldnt find anyone else asking the same thing]
