A single point would be a good idea indeed.

If you do please do the same to kghostview in 
kdegraphics/kghostview/kgvpageview.cpp
or it'll be inconsistent.

And Kmail uses mouse wheel zoom, too. 
Is that affected by any of the patches yet?  
I don't think so...

Those are the apps with mouse zoom that I know of.
They all used Shift-Wheel until now. 
There may be others.
