The current Design View has drop-down boxes in the Column, Field and Sorting fields. I don't know whether the query design will look the same in Kexi 2x, but would it be possible to add a drop-down box in the Criteria field which does

exact match:  WHERE... =foo
begins with:   WHERE... ='foo%'
ends with:   WHERE... ='%foo'
contains:   WHERE... ='%foo%'
