Hi, I'll try to catch all the previous emails here. The DE is Mate and no
other applications exhibit the issue. The commonality I can see so far is
Virtual Box/Mate. I haven't checked any other qt or KDE applications so
I'll do that asap.

Rene, just to be clear, the behaviour has only been seen in the VMs with a
physical mouse. I checked  KDevelop bare metal on a new Dell laptop and
both mouse scrolling and two finger scrolling worked correctly. To test
your theory that it's intended behaviour, I'll create a file with a really
long line and turn off word wrap to check if perhaps the document scrolls
horizontally. That would indicate an unintended signal from the mouse
driver perhaps.

 Ha ha. The Lua mailing list performs an "auto reply-all" so when I'm
posting on other lists I wind up sending messages only to the poster. If
that happens, please just forward my message and publicly chastise me.
