Update and try for yourself? I don't think there's any point anymore in hanging on to an old version.
If you do get the hang, send a fatal signal to the process which will trigger DrKonqi (`killall -ABRT kdevelop` will do the trick if you have no other KDevelop session running). You'll get a backtrace (possibly after installing missing debug packages), and DrKonqi will even help you find related issues that were already reported.

Thanks for reminding me to update my workaround patch there, and register a probably related issue (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379004).
