KDevCustomMakeManager and KDevCMakeManager plugins not loading

Getting exact same symptoms.
Running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a VMWare virtual box. 
Version info:

2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Qt: 4.8.1
KDE Development Platform: 4.8.5 (4.8.5)
KDevelop: 4.5.2

Downloaded and build kdevplatform and kdevelop from
http://download.kde.org/stable/kdevelop/4.5.2/src/ using:
cmake version 2.8.11.2
g++ (Ubuntu 4.8.1-2ubuntu1~12.04) 4.8.1

Rebooted machine after install, no change.
