syntax highlighting

Hello, the color for PHP escaped characters is too dark in my KDE color 
scheme, but I don't see a place to lighten it up in the editor color settings. 
Is there a way for us users to change some of the colors of the syntax 
highlighting? The color is so dark that I wouldn't even know characters were 
there if I wasn't expecting them. I'm using my distro's KDevelop 4.0.1 
package.
