seperating code completion

Hi,

I am new to kdevelop and I come from vim.
Actually I only switched to kdevelop because of the cool code tools
(auto completion being the most prominent).

And now I wonder: There are so many IDEs all with their own
autocompletion. Why not make it independen of the IDE? So that it can be
used in many IDEs?

Is it possible to "cut out" the code tools of kdevelop?
