code formatting while typing

I have been exploring the features provided with KDevelop and have found the 
interesting auto formatting options. Unfortunately i cant get it to work as 
expected.

What i would expect is that the formatting happen as i type. Particularly 
with the brackets. I have chosen the 'Linux' style formatting but it does 
not happen as i type. I need to explicitly choose the Reformat option from 
the Edit menu.

Am i missing some settings? Or is it how it is supposed to work?
