adding subdirectories to your c++ project

Hello

My project strated to expand and I want to subdivide it a
little, but I don't know the correct way for adding subdirs
to a project. I've read how to add subproject(subdir) in
the handbook, but then I don't know what kind of targets
(one for the *.h-s and one for the*.cpp-s, I suppose)
should add. Can someone explain the posibilities that I
have?
At the moment I want the whole source to compile into one
binary, but will be good to know how it is configured to be
build as libs.
