migration - 3.1-12 - 3.3

Hey,
running rh9 here, i just downloaded all the latest kde rpms,
solved their dependancys, and rpm -ih'd them all in.

I expected it to overwrite my old kde, so that when i rebooted,
kde 3.3 would be running.

It didn't obviously.

So what else do i need to do to startup using the new
kde version? And... will it take my settings from the old kde?
