Creating project tarball doesnt work correctly

When I create a dist tarball with make dist or the dist part the tarball is 
created, and when trying to compile everything works just fine. But when I 
run make install some of the targets (plugins and parts) aren't installed 
!!?.
When running make install in the original source tree it works correctly. 
Anyone have any idea what is wrong ?
