how to set up cvs access?

Hi,

I have a problem using cvs with gideon;

On the cvs-server the directory structure  is:

/home/cvs/repositories/theproject/theproject/mysubproject/
and
/home/cvs/repositories/theproject/CVSROOT

access via ssh and public key.

how do I configure that, to be able to use gideon to commit my work?
I allways get errors: failed to create lock directory...
