compiling? urgent!

If you downloaded a source tarball you need to use 'configure'.

If you downloaded from CVS you need to create a 'configure' by doing a
'make -f Makefile.cvs', then run 'configure'.

If you downloaded an rpm or deb package, you probably don't have to do any
of that.
