kdevelop bug or bad config options?

which language settings do you have? KDevelop should recognize the "official" 
languages. Try setting your locale to "C" ("export LANG=C"), does it work?

If you take a look at the coutputwidget.cpp there are some recognized 
translations. Can you add your translation and send me a patch?
