forcing gcc compiler

Hi:

Using Kedevlop 2.1 and SuSE 8.0.

I need to compile an application that needs to have some of the libraries 
statically linked. If I check the "prevent using shared libraries" box, then 
I get all kinds of errors. I need to compile some libraries dynamically, and 
some statically. My system has version for both, so I would appreciate it if 
someone could indicate how to do this. Also, I need to leave out libstdc++.
